President Jacob Zuma has reportedly denied weekend reports that he has plans to settle in Dubai.
The Sunday Times and City Press reported on Sunday that a series of emails in their possession also further reveals the extent of the influence of the Gupta family over government.
Both publications say that the leaked email correspondence highlights the role played by Zuma’s son, Duduzane in “matters between involving the Presidency and the government”.
“The e-mails also show the Guptas were central to a scheme for Zuma and his family to acquire residency in Dubai,” said the Sunday Times.
The papers say that the Gupta brothers Ajay, Atul and Tony, Sahara CEO Ashu Chawla emerges as a key player “in the intricate web of state capture”.
President Zuma has denied the allegations of a move to Dubai, reportedly saying that Nkandla was his only home.
Sunday’s potential bombshell revelations came as President Zuma faced a vote of no confidence at the ANC’s National Executive Committee meeting which wraps up Sunday,
According to a News 24 report on Saturday, four sources had confirmed that the motion was tabled by stalwart Joel Netshitenzhe.
The ANC is expected to address the media after the ANC’s NEC meeting concludes.
