A man who apparently gassed himself to death in his car at a Free State roadside left warning signs that the vehicle was filled with highly toxic gas.
Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks on Friday said firefighters used special equipment to open the car and removed the body of a 32-year-old man.
"He had mixed several industrial solvents and had managed to concoct a highly toxic gas similar to chlorine gas," said Wicks.
The vehicle, which was found between Fochville and Parys on Thursday night, had a yellow registration plate and was believed to be from Zimbabwe, he said.
