A 21-year-old student from Varsity College in Sandton appeared in court on Tuesday for allegedly killing a school teacher.
Bafana Mahungela was arrested on Sunday, just weeks after the body of 34-year-old Kirsten Kluyts was discovered in George Lea Park.
Kluyts was a teacher at Delta Park High School, South of Johannesburg.
On 29 October, Kluyts participated in a MyRun event hosted by the Sandton Sports Club which said their timing system identified that there was still someone out on the course.
The Club said a search was conducted and Kluyts' body was discovered.
Mahungela will be back in the Alexandra Magistrates Court on 5 December.
More charges could be added.
