Statistics South Africa said on Wednesday that headline CPI annual inflation rate in June 2018 came in at 4.6%.
This rate was 0.2 of a percentage point higher than the corresponding annual rate of 4.4% in May 2018.
Stats SA said on average, prices increased by 0.4% between May and June this year.
Meanwhile, Patrick Kelly, the Chief Director for Price Statistics, said food price were unchanged for three consecutive months, with price declines seen in some categories such as bread, oil, fruit and sugar.
"The average price for a loaf of brown bread was R12.24, dropping to R11.53 in June this year," he said.
Kelly said the petrol price increased by 82 cents a litre in June with annual fuel inflation now at 16.3%.
