State withdraws charges against one accused in Tatane case

The state has withdrawn charges against one of the eight policemen charged with the murder of Ficksburg protester Andries Tatane.

The trial of the seven remaining policemen then got underway on Monday.

The policemen have been charged with murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

They all pleaded not guilty.

Tatane was killed in Meqheleng township during a service delivery protest last April and the incident was captured on camera.
