The trial of axe murder accused Henri van Breda resumed in the Western Cape High Court on Monday.
He faces three charges of murder, one of attempted murder and one of defeating the ends of justice after being charged with killing his mother, father and brother, and seriously injuring his sister.
The attack took place at the family's De Zalze Golf Estate home at Stellenbosch in January 2015.
Van Breda alleges that an intruder wearing a balaclava, gloves and dark clothes was behind the attack and that he had heard other voices of people speaking Afrikaans in their home on the night of the attack.
Currently on the stand is the State's last witness, captain Marius Joubert, who is a blood spatter expert.
