The State Security Minister has ordered a probe into leaks of top secret documents.
This week broadcaster, Al Jazeera, began publishing details of leaked documents from South Africa's State Security Agency.
Some of the revelations include how Iran tried to use official and unofficial channels in South Africa to beat western-imposed sanctions as well as an assassination plot against African Union Commission chairperson, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
Documents from other security agencies such as Israel's Mosssad, the CIA in the US and Britain's MI6 were also leaked.
On Wednesday, State Security Minister David Mahlobo, condemned the leak and ordered a probe.
"The Minister has directed that a full investigation be launched into this so that we can determine the veracity of these documents and to ensure that we can take the necessary actions to prevent this from happening," said Brian Dube, the spokesperson for the Minister.
