Space junkies who would like to know more about life on Mars can join this year's International Space Operations Conference, online for free.
This iconic conference was supposed to take place in Cape Town last year, but since there are no lockdowns in space the virtual conference will be hosted by the South African National Space Agency (SANSA).
The chairman for the 16th International Conference Tiaan Strydom says the space industry is constantly evolving and delegates will have a chance to reflect and discuss the effects the global pandemic had on the Space Industry.
He says on the second day of the conference they will focus on the growing industry of commercial ground stations such as the ones being steered by Elon Musk's SpaceX.
Strydom says on the third day they will discuss the technological footprint space agencies and companies have on the amount of spacecraft and debris they leave in earth's orbit.
"There are a lot of companies now talking about launching 3000 to 50,000 satellites, and all those objects need to be monitored,” says Strydom.
Participants will engage with questions like, “what happens when one of these commercial companies goes out of business?” and, “who would take responsibility for their assets in space.”
Registrations for the conference are still open, and the event is completely free to attend.
