South African condemns Thailand coup


The government has issued an advisory to South Africans visiting Thailand following a military coup this week.

The Department of International Relations is advising South Africans to register their details with them and also to stay away from all protest sites.

Department spokesperson, Clayson Monyela says "South Africa condemns the coup and calls on all relevant parties to work speedily and through an inclusive process towards the restoration of constitutional order."

He also issued the offering advice to people wanting to travel abroad.

"We would also like to remind South African's if you are traveling abroad, Thailand included, please register on the Rosa system on our website. It allows us to have information about where you going so if there is a problem such as a natural disaster or martial law like the one we dealing with in Thailand, we will be able to track you down and assist you, so please if you are planning to travel register with us." says Monyela.
