Some relief at the pumps for January 2016

The Department of Energy has announced that the diesel price will drop by between 76 and 78 cents a litre next month.

However, the drop in the petrol price is only three cents a litre for 95 octane, while that of 93 octane remains unchanged.

The department announced the new fuel prices for January this afternoon.

It says the main reasons for these fuel price adjustments are the weakening of the Rand against the US Dollar despite the drop in the prices of all petroleum products globally.

The price of paraffin will decrease by between 63 and 84 cents a litre, and that of Liquefied Petroleum Gas will increase by 45 cents a kilogram.
