President Jacob Zuma has authorised the deployment of the SA National Defence Force to support the police in Marikana in North West province.
The order also extends to the deployment of SANDF members in other parts of the country where they may be needed.
The deployment period runs from the 14th of September to the end of January next year.
The presidency says this extended period will see the SANDF soldiers supporting the police during the festive season period around the country, as they did last year.
