Slight improvement in national and provincial audit outcomes

Auditor General, Terence Nombembe, says there has been a slight improvement in the audit outcomes of national and provincial departments and public entities.

He tabled his office's 2012/2013 Consolidated General Report on National and Provincial Audit Outcomes in parliament on Wednesday.

Nombeme said the audit outcomes are improving and moving in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Nombembe says audit outcomes of Eastern Cape government departments remain stagnant, which for him, is of great concern.

He says with only one improvement and three regressions, it's evident that the commitments made by the provincial leadership during his 2010-2011 roadshow in the Bhisho legislature, had not been fulfilled.

The outgoing auditor-general says it is abundantly clear that the sustainability of positive movements and outcomes holds the key to achieving the 2014 clean administration targets in the Eastern Cape.
