KwaZulu Natal police are on the hunt for the suspects involved in a mass shooting at a tuck shop in Mariannhill on Saturday night.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Jay Naicker, says a group of unknown men opened fire at people who were at the tuck shop.
Six men aged between 30 and 65-years old were killed.
Brigadier Naicker says a 7th victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
Initial investigations revealed that three of the deceased were the tuck shop owner and his two sons.
Brigadier Naicker says one of the deceased, who was waiting at the tuck shop to see a traditional healer, might have been the actual target of the hit.
"KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has mobilised all available police resources to hunt down the perpetrators,” he said.
**update: AlgoaFM News has just received word that the 7th victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital - so KZN Police are now investigating seven counts of murder.
