JOHANNESBURG, June 8 (ANA) – Six people were arrested in Pimville, Soweto, in connection with the three burnt bodies discovered in Centurion, Pretoria, this week.
Police believe that the three family members were victims of a house robbery in Northcliff, Johannesburg, where vehicles and household goods were stolen.
Gregory Naidoo, 57, Melanie Naidoo, 51, and her daughter Rakiel Naidoo, 23, disappeared on Sunday, their burnt bodies were found in an open veld in Centurion.
Police spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubela, said investigators awaited DNA results to confirm their identity.
The family’s Mercedes Benz, stolen during the robbery, was tracked down and found in Soweto. One person was subsequently arrested, and he then led the police to the rest of the alleged criminals, said Makhubela.
“A Toyota Quantum used as a getaway vehicle was also recovered, including electric appliances stolen during the robbery. All six suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of robbery, kidnapping and murder,” Makhubela said.
