Two sisters were detained by Gautrain security for four hours and fined R700 for chewing gum.
Sisters Pontso Pakkies and Lebo Sibisi claim that they were unaware that chewing gum was not allowed on the train.
They told The Star newspaper that they were not allowed to go to the toilet, call their families and the room in which they were held had no cellphone reception.
They were released after paying the fine.
Eating and drinking is not allowed on the Gautrain.
