Singer opens case of rape against soccer boss Danny Jordaan - reports

South African singer, Jennifer Ferguson, has reportedly laid charges against soccer boss Danny Jordaan, several months after publicly accusing him of sexually assaulting her in a hotel in Port Elizabeth 24 years ago.

City Press reported on Sunday that this was confirmed by Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini, who said that a case was opened in Parkview, Johannesburg, last week.

He told the newspaper that the case had been transferred to Port Elizabeth.

Jordaan, who the newspaper said was unavailable for comment due to a family bereavement, has denied the allegations and called for the allegations to be ventilated in court.

In a statement to City Press, Ferguson reportedly said that her “initial intent had been to settle this matter outside of the court process of legal prosecution”.

Ferguson is reportedly in South Africa to perform in a show #WeToo, which she wrote following her claims against Jordaan.
