South African motorists can expect huge relief at the fuel pumps in November.
The Automobile Association says unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund indicates a significant drop in fuel prices next week of up to R2-00 per litre for petrol, around R1-00 per litre for diesel and 98 cents per litre for illuminating paraffin.
AA spokesperson, Layton Beard says after three months of significant increases both petrol and diesel, prices are expected to fall below the R25-00 per litre mark again.
"This is good news for motorists, consumers, and the economy, especially heading into the end of the year. These decreases come as South Africans continue to struggle financially and will be welcome relief from the substantial increases seen since August", he said.
Beard says the biggest contributor to the decreases was a significant drop in the cost of international product prices on average in October.
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy is expected to make an official announcement of the adjusted prices before Wednesday, 1 November.
