The Hawks in the Northern Cape have arrested five suspects who allegedly stole several guns from a walk-in safe.
Spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi says on the 24th of June, 63 firearms and ammunition were stolen after the safe from the Secretary of the Firearms Collectors Association was blown up.
She says the K9 unit and the Local Criminal Record Center immediately launched an investigation which led to the discovery of a stolen firearm and two hand radios.
Mnisi says this led them to five suspects, aged between 30 and 35, who were arrested on Monday and Tuesday in Bankara and Mothibistad, respectively.
Police also found six bags of dagga and housebreaking equipment in their possession.
The men will appear in the Kuruman Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The search for the stolen firearms continue.
