UPDATE: The death toll from Wednesday's horror accident in Sasolburg has risen from an initial seven to nine fatalities.
ER 24 says two more people died in hospital following the head-on collision between a minibus taxi and a truck.
A spokesperson for ER 24 Russel Meiring says a minibus taxi and a truck collided on the R82 Koppies Road in Sasolburg.
He says when paramedics arrived at the scene they found several patients trapped inside the taxi, however, seven were declared dead on the scene.
Meiring says three passengers were rushed to the hospital.
The exact cause of the accident is not yet known and will form part of a police investigation.
