Seven people have died and at least 40 others were left injured in a crash between a petrol tanker and three vehicles on the N3 between Estcourt and Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal.
The crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Services spokesperson, Robert McKenzie says the hazardous truck caught fire after colliding with the three vehicles.
McKenzie says the accident involved a bus, two light motor vehicles and the tanker.
He says along with the seven deceased, a number of people sustained critical and serious injuries.
He says the N3 highway in the vicinity of Estcourt was closed as the burning tanker and bus were creating severe heat which was affecting the southbound carriage.
