A 66-year-old serial rapist has been sentenced to 15 life imprisonments for 15 counts of rape with an additional 30 years for four counts of abduction and two counts of sexual assault.
Herman Harker was sentenced by the Cape Town High Court on Thursday
His six victims were between the ages of nine and 23.
During the trial, the court heard how Harker terrorised his victims between October of 2017 and June of 2018
His victims were from several towns across the Province including, Ladismith, Stellenbosch, Wolseley, Kleinvlei and Tulbagh.
Harker lured his victims under the pretence that he was looking for someone to walk him halfway to his destination or he would befriend them by offering them money.
In some instances, he would threaten his victims with a knife or firearm before raping them repeatedly.
Harker's youngest victims were aged nine and 13 and were both raped while still in their school uniforms.
His reign of terror ended when the Ladismith police arrested him in June 2018 on charges of abduction and rape.
The investigation soon revealed that he was also wanted on five more cases of rape, abduction and sexual assault.
Provincial police welcomed the sentence.
