A 45-year-old woman who works as a security official at the Hawks offices in Belville has been arrested for allegedly falsifying her matric qualifications.
Spokesperson Zinzi Hani says Phelisa Lande applied for the job that was advertised in October last year and allegedly submitted a fraudulent certificate.
She says Lande was appointed on the 1st of April.
Hani says the Hawks noticed the suspicious certificate and vetted the qualifications with the Department of Education.
She says it was during this process that the allegation of fraud was discovered and further investigation revealed that the accused submitted the same qualification in her previous employment where she was employed as a security officer.
Lande was released on bail of R1 000 and will be back in court on the 6th of September for legal representation.
