Two men are in police custody in Brits in the North West Province following their arrest for tampering with infrastructure and possession of suspected stolen aluminium cables worth R10 million.

The pair were arrested after the police followed up on information received from the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) about suspected illegal activity taking place at a scrap metal business in Mmakau village.

On arrival at the scrapyard, aluminium cables were found loaded on a bakkie.

Police arrested the driver of the bakkie as well as the owner of the scrapyard.

The suspects, aged 31 and 61 will appear in court on Tuesday where they will face several charges.
