School boys held for alleged murder of school admin assistant

RUSTENBURG, November 28 (ANA) – A school secretary at Rabonni Private Christian School in Brits was killed allegedly by two pupils, the North West department of education revealed on Monday.

Department spokesman Freddy Sepeng said she was allegedly killed on November 23.

“It is alleged that after school the deceased gave two learners, aged between 16 and 17, a lift to town. One of the learners had a gun and they forced the deceased to drive towards a different direction,” he said.

“The body of the deceased was found on the next day along the Letlhabile provincial road by the motorists with a gun wound. The family reported to the police and two learners were arrested at school.”

The woman identified as Esbie Koster, 55, was found with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

The two teenagers appeared in Brits Magistrate’s Court last week Friday. Their case was postponed to Wednesday for further investigation.

The boys, who cannot be named because they are minors, have been taken to a place of safety in Rustenburg.

Koster’s car was found in Letlhabile.

North West Education and Sport Development MEC, Sello Lehari said the department was shocked by the incident.

“On behalf of the department, we have been shocked by the sudden death of our hard working employee. We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the family and the school,” said Lehari.

“We have assigned our team of officials from the department and Social Development department to conduct counselling to the learners and the family.”

Koster would be laid to rest in Brits on Sunday.
