Satawu rejects latest wage offer

The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union has rejected employers latest wage offer of 9%.

Unions were optimistic that a solution to the bus drivers strike might be reached by the end of this week.

Satawu however won't except anything less than a double digit offer.

The Unions decreased their wage demand earlier this week from 13% to 10%.

The Chairperson for Cosatu in Gauteng Phutas Tseki says Satawu has a task team which will decide when taxi drivers and members of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa will join the strike.

Satawu have also asked the Department of Transport to intervene in the matter and have given them 7 days to respond to their memorandum.
