SAPS searching for victims in latest viral video involving members

UPDATE: The South African Police (SAPS) has successfully traced the victims in the viral video and also positively identified the officers involved. They will be subjected to internal disciplinary proceedings while the investigation continues.

A Preliminary investigation by police indicates that the vehicles seen in the video belong to SAPS and the men seen in the footage are SAPS members.

The incident took place on the N1 in Fourways, Johannesburg.

The National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has condemned the behaviour and said SAPS are distancing themselves from the conduct depicted in the video.

He says it does not align with the Code of Conduct of SAPS which includes integrity, professionalism, accountability and respect for human life.

Police will now take statements from the victims.

General Masemola says such action cannot be condoned, regardless of the circumstances.
