The SA Police Service under the leadership of Police Minister, Bheki Cele will host a two-day Provincial Crime Summit in the Western Cape this weekend.
National police spokesperson, Brigadier Vish Naidoo says it will be attended by the Deputy Minister of Police, Cassel Mathale and the Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu under the theme "Building a United Front in The Fight Against Crime, in an effort to build safer communities".
He says the Crime Summit in Paarl aims to bring various stakeholders together to exchange views and craft sustainable solutions towards combating crime in the Western Cape.
Naidoo says the Summit will host 500 delegates comprising of various entities and stakeholders involved in the fight against crime.
SA National Defence Force troops from around the country arrived in Cape Town on Friday to support a planned police operation in efforts to rid crime-ridden suburbs of gangs and criminals.
This, after President Cyril Ramaphosa approved a request for the deployment of the army, following a sharp increase in murders in parts of the city.
