The SA National Editors Forum says its disappointed at the passing of the Protection of State Information Bill in parliament yesterday.
The ANC used its majority to get the Bill passed with 189 MP's voting in favour, 74 MP's opposed the Bill and one MP abstained.
It will now be sent to president Jacob Zuma to be passed into law.
The chairperson of the SA National Editors Forum, Nic Dawes, says the body will continue to fight to have the Bill reviewed.
"While it has improved a good deal in its passage through the National Council of Province it still presents serious problems for freedom of information and open government," he said.
"We hope president Zuma himself will send the Bill for a Constitutional review. If he doesn't opposition parties have an option, if they get enough votes, to send it for review. And, if they don't do that then certainly as Sanef we will bring court challenges," Dawes added.
