Three South African soldier serving in the DRC have been wounded in a rebel attack on one of the South African Company Operating Bases in DRC.
The chief of the SANDF, General Solly Shoke, said the attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
"One member was seriously wonded and is currently in a Level 3 hospital in Goma. Two other members sustained minor injuries and are being treated at the same hospital in Goma," Shoke said in a statement on Thursday.
"The SANDF soldiers, however, stood their ground and defended their position with great courage and determination. MONUSCO also launched a counter attack with a reaction force supported by Attack Helicopters. The outcome thereof is awaited," the SANDF statement said.
