The South African National Defence Force said that it was concerned about “inaccurate” media reports about two members seriously injured in a helicopter crash on Thursday.
“The SANDF can confirm that both members are in a stable condition in hospital, and wishes to state categorically that the news suggesting that one of our members has passed on is not true.”
“The SANDF would like to caution the public not to spread incorrect and irresponsible information,” said the head of communications, Siphiwe Dlamini, on Friday.
He said that when pilots are assigned to any task they undergo a pre-flight medical check-up before flying any aircraft as a strict requirement for all pilots.
