The South African National Defence Force confirmed on Friday that troops were deployed to four provinces following a series of arson attacks on trucks.
SANDF spokesperson, Siphiwe Dlamini, said that the deployment was in support of the South African Police Service.
In a brief statement, he said that troops were deployed to Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Kwa-Zulu Natal, and the Free State province.
Meanwhile, two truck drivers who were arrested in connection with the incidents are due to appear in court on Monday.
National police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, said the arrests were made by members of a multi-disciplinary team assigned with investigating the attacks and burning of trucks.
She said two men, aged 27 and 29, were arrested at their homes. but it was not immediately clear who they work for.
Mathe said the first suspect was arrested on a farm in Piet Retief with the assistance of a private security firm and the other was arrested in Ermelo.
They both face a charge of malicious damage to property.
