SACP sounds warning to ANC and its allies

SACP General Secretary, Blade Nzimande , said if the ANC and its alliance partners do not act now, their revolution may be in danger.

Nzimande was addressing a Chris Hani commemoration event in Boksburg on Sunday.

Nzimande said as the SACP they have to accept that there are counter revolutionary forces both inside and outside South Africa.

But, he said one needs to remember that “we need to remember that we also need to look deeper, we also have to look at ourselves as the root of some problems.”

Nzimande said it was an uncomfortable question, but it needs to be asked. Can the ANC rescue itself?”

The SACP leader said that some of the problems in the ANC were inherent in any party that has access to state power.

“So we have to ask if a new party comes to power will it not have the same problems the ANC has now,” Nzimande said.

The SACP boss also warned against cheap politicking, and said the time has come to an end where the SACP just blindly supported the ANC.

Nzimande said they key question now was “what Hani would have asked - is what is to be done now.”

He said President Zuma must assist them by stepping down.
