Representatives of 12 000 sacked Anglo American Platinum workers say they will lay charges of murder following the death of a colleague last week.
A man identified by mine workers as 48 year old Mtshunquleni Qakamba, died when police fired rubber bullets and teargas to disperse a gathering on a hill at an Amplats mine in Rustenburg on Thursday.
Authorities have not confirmed the man's identity or cause of death.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has taken over the investigation.
