SA Breweries says it believes its wage offer of 7.5% to employees, who are members of the SA Food and Allied Workers Union, is a highly competitive offer.
SAB's Human Resources Director, Yokesh Maharaj, says their wage offer will increase the average monthly pay for shift workers by R1 196 - R18 283.
SAB workers downed tools on Tuesday at several sites country-wide, including in the Eastern Cape.
He says as the strike entered its second day, SAB has contingency plans in place to minimise any disruption to its service.
Maharaj says SAB has also implemented a security plan to protest its people and assets.
He says SAB has a long and enduring relationship with Fawu and remains committed to continued engagement with the union.
