File

South African Airways said that the strike by pilots has been suspended following successful wage negotiations with the South African Airways Pilots Association (SAAPA).

In a statement it said that management had offered an additional 1% salary increase, resulting in a total salary increase of 9.47% for SAA pilots.

Interim CEO, Professor Malesela Lamola said that engagements will continue on the  “enterprise improvement program” over the next eight weeks.

“We are committed to implementing work-life concessions that should enhance the productivity of our world-acclaimed pilots," he said.

SAA said it was expected to return to a 100% flight schedule by Sunday, 8 December 2024, with more than 100 pilots returning to their duties by noon on Saturday.

“SAA extends its heartfelt gratitude to our valued customers for their patience, understanding, and support during this period.
