South Africa has recorded 8 more COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 186.
Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize announced on Saturday that the total number of cases in the country had increased to 9 420 - after 525 new coronavirus cases were reported in the past 24 hours.
Seven more deaths were reported in the Western Cape and one in Kwa Zulu Natal.
The total number of recoveries had increased to 3 983.
The Eastern Cape reported 89 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total in the province to 1 078.
Minister Mkize said he would be visiting the Western and Eastern Cape provinces this week.
To date, a total of 324,079 tests had been conducted in the country, of which 16,327 were new tests over those reported on Saturday, he said.
Of these, the private sector accounted for 160,897 (50 percent), with 7 302 (45 percent) new tests, and the public sector accounted for 163,182 (50 percent), with 9 025 (55 percent) being new tests.
The total number of tests now stands at 324,079.
