The first South African Satanic church has officially opened its doors and should be fully operational from Ballito in Kwazulu Natal by September.

The co-founder and the presiding reverend at the Satanic church, Riaan Swiegelaar, registered the church as a religious organisation in February, under the Department of Social Development.

The Church said on it's official Facebook page that any person can join their movement if they are over the age of 18.

Members will also be expected to attend rituals and may not "out" fellow members.

They must also align themselves with the Satanic Bible, which was written by Anton LaVey in 1969.

According to Wikipedia the Satanic Bible has sold over one million copies since its initial release and has been translated into Danish, Swedish, German, Spanish, Finnish and Turkish.

Swiegelaar told TimesLive that the Satanic Bible is currently being translated into Afrikaans and will be available next year.
