The country’s road death toll climbed further after two women were killed and five others injured in an accident at Kroonvaal Plaza.
ER 24 reported that two cars collided on the N1 highway early on Wednesday morning.
Spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said that when paramedics arrived on scene they found one car lying on its side just off the road while the second was found in the road.
“Debris from both vehicles was found spread across the entire scene,” he said.
Meiring said among the five injured patients was a one-year-old girl who was found in her car seat and in critical condition.
All the injured patients were transported by ambulance to nearby facilities.
Meanwhile, a five-year-old boy died and three other people were injured when a vehicle overturned on the road between George and Herolds Bay on Wednesday.
