SA records more than 3 000 new COVID-19 cases

Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize, says the number of daily Covid19 positive cases has breached the 3000 mark.

He says more than half of the 3 105 new cases, at 54.4%, were from the Eastern Cape.

Mkhize says the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in South Africa to date is 762 763.

He says regrettably, 88 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported as of Friday evening, with 67 in the Eastern Cape.

The Minister says the recovery rate is 92.7%.
