JOHANNESBURG, May (ANA) - The South African Jewish Board of Deputies has issued a statement in which it condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack on worshippers at a mosque in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
"Places of worship should always provide a safe space and its sanctity should be respected. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrific attack and with the South African Muslim community," said the statement issued by spokesperson Charisse Zeifert.
Three people were attacked with sharp weapons inside the mosque in Verulam, north of Durban, on Thursday afternoon. The Mosque was also set alight.
One worshipper whose throat was slit has since died in hospital. The other two remain hospitalised.
