The Road Traffic Management Corporation is instigating a major crash that claimed the lives of 13 people in the North West Province.
The RMTC said that accident between 22:00 and 23:00 on the R505 between Wolmaransstad and Ottosdal on Saturday night.
“A minibus taxi and an SUV type vehicle crashed Head on and the drivers of both vehicles died on the scene,” the RMTC said.
“The exact cause of the crash is unknown at this stage. The RTMC would like to urge motorist to exercise extra caution when driving at night.”
The organisation said it was is unfortunate that this crash occurred a few days after the North West provincial government launched it Easter Road Safety plan.
“All road users are reminded to play their role in making the coming Easter period a safe one,” the RMTC said.
The RTMC, all provincial and municipal traffic law enforcement authorities and the South African Police will be out in full force thus week in a national drive to reduce road carnages.
