A gun that was reported as stolen in Kabega Park in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape was found in the possession of a suspect in Vryheid in Kwazulu Natal on Friday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala says police received intel about a vehicle transporting a carcass and rhino horn at a local game reserve on Thursday.

She says a high-speed chase ensued which led to the arrest of two men aged 51 and 64.

Lieutenant Colonel Gwala says the 51-year-old was out on parole for attempted murder and robbery while the 64-year-old is wanted on other cases committed in different provinces.

The stolen rifle and rhino horns, wrapped in plastic, were found hidden inside the engine of their car.

Both men appeared in the Vryburg Magistrates Court last week.
