Report highlights real cost of fraud and corruption

Public service corruption, theft, fraud, extortion and forgery cost taxpayers nearly 1 billion rand in 2011-12.
According to a report released by law firm, Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs, financial misconduct at central and provincial government levels cost South Africa R930-million, up from R346-million the previous year.
It comes just three months after Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan said during his budget speech that the government would take a no-nonsense approach to corruption in the public sector.
