Motorists can expect some relief at the fuel pumps on Wednesday after the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced a drop in fuel prices for June.
The Department says both grades of petrol will decrease by 71 cents per liter, that of diesel by between 80 and 84 cents, and paraffin by 43 cents per liter.
The retail price of LP gas will, however, increase by 75 cents per kilogram.
Department spokesperson Robert Maake says the increase in the price of LP gas is due to higher trade rates and high prices of butane.
“The reason for this decrease is mainly because of the lower prices of all petroleum products which were in line with all the lower oil prices during the period under review. However, the weaker rand took away over 50 cents from all the fuel price reductions”, he said.
