A man who impregnated a disabled teenager four years ago will be back in a Limpopo court in January.
Police said the matter came to light recently following intervention from the local community in Naboomspruit near Modimolle.
According to a statement, the 18-year-old woman fell pregnant after being raped in 2014 by a 47-year-old man who is also mentally disabled.
The case went to court this month after social workers established that the young mother had conceived her child, now four-years-old, as the result of rape.
Limpopo Social Development Department spokesperson, Adele van der Linde, has warned against neglecting the safety of people living with disabilities.
She has advised people to report any forms of abuse or neglect of people with disabilities to the nearest social worker or police.
The rape suspect has been released on free bail until his next court appearance.
