The National Prosecuting Authority said two state prosecutors, were arrested on charges of defeating or obstructing the administration of justice.
The NPA said Tshikani Rikhotso and Mikhalani Chauke made their first appearance at Rustenburg Magistrate Court following their arrest on Thursday.
A warrant of arrest has also been issued for a third suspect in the matter.
NPA spokesperson, Sivenathi Gunya, said the two were granted bail of R1000 each and the case was postponed to 26 September.
The NPA said it was serious about fighting those who are corrupt in its ranks.
“Furthermore, NPA would like to assure the public that disciplinary actions will be taken against its members who are against the system,” Gunya said.
