Four former employees of SBV Security have been jailed for 30 years for robbing their employer of R25 million.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Henrico Fourie, Fannie Mbuyani, Jasias Maseko, and Lazarus Ntlatleng, were sentenced in the Pretoria High Court on Thursday.
NPA spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana, said one of the robbers, Bekithemb Mbanjwa, was out on bail and failed to appear in court for sentencing. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
An SBV driver, who was recruited by Fourie, turned state’s witness and was granted indemnity from prosecution.
The court heard that the group had tried several times to rob a cash-in-transit vehicle and only succeeded on their third attempt in January 2020, where R25 million was stolen.
Mahanjana said the security officers pleaded not guilty to all the charges against them.
