President Zuma under investigation for hate speech

The SA Human Rights Commission has confirmed that it's investigating complaints of hate speech against President Jacob Zuma.

Spokeperson Isaac Mangena said they've accepted the complaints and have started with the investigation.

Last month, the Freedom Front Plus laid a complaint of hate speech with the Commission related to statements attributed to Zuma at an ANC fundraiser.

Zuma reportedly told some of the country's wealthiest people that "all the trouble began" in 1652 when Jan van Riebeeck landed in the Cape.

Mangena said the Human Rights Commission had since received two more complaints about the same matter, but it was not immediately clear who had laid the two additional complaints.

ANC spokesperson, Keith Khoza, said they believe that the president, whatever remarks he made, would be vindicated.
