Four men, aged between 18 and 28 have been arrested by the Anti-Gang Unit during an intelligence-driven operation, following the fatal shooting of an eight-month pregnant woman in Manenberg on the Cape Flats.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk says in a statement released late on Friday that when members arrived at the scene, they found a 26-year-old deceased woman with several gunshot wounds to her body.
He said the pregnant victim was also a mother of two minors.
Van Wyk said she was on her way to purchase electricity with her 29-year-old male friend on Thursday evening when the incident happened.
Her friend was also wounded in the leg during the shooting.
According to police information, the perpetrators were identified as members of a local gang.
They are expected to appear in court soon.
