A truck driver from Precision Towing services in Port Elizabeth is fighting for his life in hospital after being shot several times outside the offices of an ambulance service in Newton Park on Thursday evening.
Police captain Johan Rheeder told AlgoaFM news that 29 year old Philip Wolfsburg had been shot at least twice, possibly three times, by an unidentified shooter while sitting in his car.
Rheeder said Wolfsburg was in a stable condition in hospital.
Rheeder said police did not have a motive for the shooting at this stage, although they were aware of on-going tensions between rival towing services in the Metro.
There have been no arrests yet, but police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
